The Board of Education has established specific graduation requirements for Wichita Public Schools. In addition to these, there are classes recommended by the Kansas Board of Regents for students who plan to attend college. Completion of these courses will help ensure college success.
Graduation Requirements
A Wichita High School Diploma requires a minimum of 22 units of credit. This includes credits earned in approved high school programs.

Applying for Admission to a College:
- Check on college admissions requirements to make sure student will qualify
- Complete a college application
- Pay any required application fee
- Request a 6- or 7-semester transcript be sent from the student's high school
- Submit scores from the ACT or SAT college entrance tests
Admission Requirements for Kansas Board of Regents Colleges:
(Kansas State University, University of Kansas, Wichita State University, Emporia State University, Pittsburg State University, and Fort Hays State University)
Meet any one of the following criteria:
- Score a 21 or higher on the ACT
- Rank in the top 1/3 of your graduating class
- Complete the Kansas Board of Regents curriculum with a 2.0 GPA. Kansas Board of Regents Curriculum -- Information on specific classes in Wichita Public Schools needed to complete the Kansas Board of Regents Curriculum. Completion of these classes will also help ensure college success.
Princeton Admission Requirements:
- Four years of English
- Four years of Math
- Four years of the same foreign language
- At least two years of a lab science
- At least two years of history
- Art, music, and a second foreign language are recommended
Community Colleges Admission Requirements:
Most community colleges have an open admissions policy and admit all high school graduates.
Vocational-Technical Schools Admission Requirements:
Most vo-techs have an open admissions policy for any high school graduate. Some programs require passing an entrance test dealing with basic English and math.
