School-Age Program

A School-Age Program (SAP) is a before and after school program held in most elementary buildings and is designed to provide child care services to children and families.  This program is licensed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and makes every effort to protect childrens' health, safety, and well-being.  Certified teachers and staff direct USD 259 programs.  Kid Care Connection, Park Board, and the YMCA also operate programs in our district and are also certified by KDHE.

The program hours are posted at each site.  Services are generally provided two hours before and two hours after school.  ENROLLMENT:  Children must be 5 to 12 years of age.  Enrollment is first come, first serve, space available, and staffing is based on a 1 to 16 ratio.  The parent must complete an Enrollment Form, a Parent Agreement, and Appointment of Agent, Health Forms (shots and physical examination signed by a licensed physician), and pay $15.00/$13.00 enrollment fee before the child is admitted.  Enrollment procedures follow the guidelines for Licensed Child Care facilities as determined by the State Department of Health and Environment.  For additional information, contact your neighborhood elementary school.

The third child in each family attending a school-age program will pay 1/2 of all contracted hours.  Any additional children after the third child will also pay 1/2 of all contracted hours.  There may be a fee for breakfast based on the school-lunch formula.  Field trips and summer activities may require activity fees.  Parents may apply for SRS subsidy.

School-Age Programs are located in various elementary schools throughout the Wichita Public School district.
