2009-2010 Choice
Under the choice requirement of NCLB, a Title I school identified for improvement must offer all parents the option to attend another school in the district that is not identified for improvement. Transportation to the receiving school is provided if the student lives more than 2.5 miles from that school.

Process and Timeline
- Schools mail a choice letter to all parents on Monday, July 20.
- By 4 p.m. on Friday, August 7, the parent should meet with the sending school principal to discuss interest in transfer.
- If parent decides to participate in choice, sending school principal signs the "Special Transfer Form" and writes "NCLB Choice" as the reason for transfer.
- Parent should take the "Special Transfer Form" to the receiving school and enroll the student by 4 p.m. Friday, August 14.
- Receiving school makes transportation arrangements.
