TO: Substitute Teachers with an Emergency Substitute License

SUBJECT: Renewal procedures for Emergency License
The procedure for renewing your Emergency Substitute License is to be completed online at the Kansas State Department of Education. The application will not be available until JULY 1, 2009. Applicants are directed to the following State Department website: www.ksde.org. Choose “Teacher Licensure” then “Licensure Information”, and then "Teaching License Applications". Please direct your questions to the Teacher Education and Licensure operators at 785-291-3678.
To apply electronically, you will need to first register on the online "authenticated web site". During the registration process, you will enter requested information, including a username and password. You will need to remember your username and password! The State Department will not have a record of it. If you renewed online last year, you will use the same username and password. If you cannot remember your username and password, you will need to re-register with a new username and password. Once the registration process is complete, you will have immediate access to the emergency substitute renewal application Form 8.
The process will be:
· Complete the application Form 8
· You will be asked to print a copy of the application form 8.
· Choose the submit button at the bottom of the page when you are ready to submit. As soon as you submit, you will instantly receive a confirmation message on the computer screen that includes complete instructions on submitting the application fee.
· You will be able to pay by electronic check or credit card OR with a paper check or money order. There is a $3.00 fee charged for an electronic payment by the pay system. The license is now $39.00 and will be valid for 2 years.
· You will be required to send a copy of the Employer’s Copy of your renewed license to the Substitute Teachers office before you can continue sub teaching.
An application is not accepted without the fee and will not be processed until the fee is received.
AGAIN, this cannot be done until JULY 1, 2009
