Homebound Program Overview of Services
- Homebound instruction is designed to provide continuity of educational services between the classroom and home, for students whose medical needs, both physical and psychiatric, do not allow school attendance for a limited period of time.
- Homebound instruction is not intended to supplant school services and is by design temporary.
- The goal of homebound instruction is to provide continuity of instruction and to facilitate the student’s return to a regular school setting as quickly as possible.
- Homebound is considered the most restrictive of instructional arrangements.
- Homebound instruction is an extension of regular school and all classroom rules and regulations, as well as school district policies, apply.
- The homebound service requires student motivation.
- Homebound instruction cannot replicate a comprehensive school setting.
- Extension of services beyond nine calendar weeks is determined by additional medical or psychological information from the attending physician or licensed clinical psychologist.
