The Security Communications Department is the pulse of the Wichita Public Schools for critical communication services. School district dispatchers work twenty-four hours a day to coordinate and communicate vital information throughout the district in a timely manner. Monitoring activities at school district buildings and dispatching resources to campuses as necessary provides essential support and protection for the school district. Services include: dispatch services; radio communications; coordination with 911; alarm monitoring; severe weather reporting to campuses; and Crisis Team communication. Security Communications Dispatchers annually handle over 200,000 calls annually for information and assistance.
