SECURITY COMMUNICATIONS DUTIES
- Protect the students and employees of USD 259.
- Protect 564 million dollars of school district assets - buildings, equipment, and contents.
- Monitor alarm systems for all schools and USD 259 property, 24 hours a day.
- Check each building into day/night mode.
- Test each building alarm system at least twice a day, via the phone lines.
- Keep a report of building occupancy after hours and over the weekends.
- Dispatch security officers and keep a record of their activity.
- Record security incidents - alarms, thefts, assaults, threats, etc.
- Assist school based security officers and building administrators.
- Coordinate emergency efforts with 911.
- Check all Kansas-One Call dig permits for any USD 259 buried lines.
- Monitor the weather.
- Report severe weather conditions to school district officials.
- We have notification procedures to handle any type of crisis. We make sure the people who need to know stay informed. This includes the school district - wide crisis team.
- We handle phone calls from inside the school district and from the public. We have the only phone line in the school district which will be answered 24 hrs. a day, everyday of the year. We take phone calls for emergencies as well as for school district information and directory assistance.
- We serve as the information desk for the School Service Center.
