U.S. Communities is a nonprofit agency that assists public agencies reduce the cost of purchased goods through pooling the purchasing power of public agencies nationwide. This is done through competitively soliciting bids and proposals for quality products through a lead public agency. USD 259 participates in these cooperative purchasing endeavors when feasible and cost effective.
The Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO), the National Association of Counties (NACO), the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP), the National League of Cities (NLC), and the United States Conference of Mayors (USCM), jointly sponsor U.S. Communities.
Darren Muci, Division Director, Operations, and Bill Brown, Supervisor, Procurement Services, are the USD 259 representatives of U.S. Communities and serve as Lead Public Agency representatives in the management of the Wichita Public School District's contract with Virco, Inc., for educational furniture.
