Mission Statement
The mission of AmeriCorps GRASP is to support and academically assist the students and families in the Wichita Public Schools by providing mentors and tutors and to build a strong community through service and community engagement.
AmeriCorps GRASP Members and Staff 2009-2010
AmeriCorps GRASP members provide direct service to the Wichita Public Schoolls by academically assisting students in Title 1 schools and participating in service projects for the community. The program also offers an opportunity for members to become highly qualified Paraprofessionals and encourages them to continue their education to become teachers. The Program year begins August 1 and ends July 31. |

AmeriCorps GRASP is currently serving at the following Title 1 schools:
Adams Elementary, Clark Elementary, Curtis Middle School, Enterpise Elementary, Gordan Parks Academy, Hamilton Middle School, Harry St. Elementary, Horace Mann Dual Language Magnet,
Jackson Elementary, Jardine Middle School, Stanely Elementary, Woodman Elementary
AmeriCorps GRASP received ARRA additonal funding for the 2009-2010 program year to implement a Family Literacy Program.The program is in partnership with Mulitlingual Education Services. Members are serving at: Cloud Elementary, Colvin Elementary, Griffith Elementary, Irving Elementary, Park Elementary and Washington Elementary.
AmeriCorps GRASP is a Corporation for National Service program administered by the Wichita Public Schools for the Kansas Volunteer Commission.
