AmeriCorps GRASP Getting Things Done! |
AmeriCorps GRASP members have been busy this year by academically assisting and mentoring students in the Wichita Public Schools. Members also implement Service Learning Projects at each school that involves students, staff and parents. The member serve the community by volunteering to assist area non-profit agencies and organizations.

GRASP has partnered with the WSU Office of Multicultural Affairs and has the opportunity to hear guest speakers that they bring to the WSU campus. Jimmy Cabrera author of "What's in Your Back Pack?" Packing for Success in Your Life. His presentation was on "Leadership is More About Becoming a Legacy." Each member was given an autographed copy of the book. Juana Bordas gave a presentation on "Diversity and Leadership for the Multicultural Age." She is also the author of "Salsa, Sour and Spirit.
AmeriCorps encourages it's members to participate in civic engagement. This year we have two members who are serving on community boards. One is serving on the Alley Park Recreation Board and the other member is serving as President of a neighborhood association.
