High Schools
Wichita Public Schools students are served by 11 high schools throughout the city. Seven of those are traditional, comprehensive high schools; three are alternative high schools which provide a smaller learning environment for students; and one, Northeast Magnet High School, provides intensive focus on visual arts, science and law.
Wichita high school students have the opportunity to participate in a full variety of athletic activities, as well as myriad opportunities in the arts (theater, vocal, visual, music) and special programs (including JROTC, career and technical education). In addition, numerous Advancement Placement courses are offered, as well as the most rigorous college-preparatory program available, the internationally-recognized International Baccalaureate program, located at East High.
