Middle Schools
The Wichita Public Schools' 17 middle schools are located throughout Wichita’s diverse neighborhoods, and four of these schools provide unique educational options through magnet programs. Each of the magnet middle schools focuses on different areas, such as culture and fine arts or technology, which allow students to strengthen talents while focusing on specific areas of interest. All 17 middle schools offer a challenging academic experience in a supportive environment for growing and maturing young people.
Connecting students to school is important, and each district middle school provides a variety of programs and school activities to do just that. Each middle school offers track, basketball, volleyball and cross country, and students can also participate in activities and clubs such as band, robotics, National Academic League and Student Council. Several middle schools also offer after-school activities to extend the day and provide a safe, supportive environment for students.
