"Progress as Promised" Bond Issue
Students at Horace Mann Dual Language Magnet School celebrate the opening of their new building, one of six buildings reconstructed as part of bond issue improvements | Wichita voters set a state-wide example for support of public education on April 4, 2000. Citizens who believe in the Wichita Public Schools voted to support the district's $284.5 million bond issue referrendum by a 2-1 margin! Still the largest school facility bond issue to pass in the State of Kansas, Wichita's "Progress as Promised" initiative has resulted in major facility improvements at every one of our district's school facilities.
The district celebrated the substantial completion of all bond construction projects during September 2006 with a series of events which gave the community an opportunity to see first-hand the "return on investment" that Wichita taxpayers are receiving from their $284.5 million investment.
You are invited to review the district's bond issue project highlights to see for yourself the legacy that Wichita voters will leave to the children in our community for generations to come..
