New Construction!
Two new schools are recently completed in the Wichita Public Schools. Gordon Parks Academy and the new Earhart Environmental Magnet opened in the fall of 2008 to much celebration. Click on the school links to see more about the opening of the new schools.
The Wichita Public Schools celebrated the start of construction of Gordon Parks Academy, its new kindergarten – eighth-grade school in northeast Wichita with a groundbreaking ceremony on April 16, 2007. To read more about the groundbreaking, click here.
The May 15, 2007 groundbreaking ceremony of the new Earhart Environmental Magnet marked the beginning of the final project of the district's $284.5 million bond issue. To read more about Earhart's groundbreaking celebration, click here.
