BOE purchases land in Bel Aire for new schools
The Board of Education approved the purchase of 140 acres of land in Bel Aire for the construction of two new schools. The new northeast high school and new K-8 school will be built as part of the $370 million bond issue that was passed in November 2008.
The district purchased 40 acres by the southeast corner of 53rd St. North and Woodlawn for the K-8 school and 100 acres near the northeast corner of 53rd Street and Rock Road for the new northeast high school. The new K-8 is expected to open in the fall of 2011 and the new high school is expected to open in the fall of 2012.
The district purchased the 140 acres for $1.78 million.
