Wichita Public Schools Donations
To make a donation, please contact a campus principal or one of the district offices listed below.
Describe the item you would like to donate. Staff will determine if the item is needed and may screen equipment to make sure it is in working condition. Computers will be distributed based on needs stated in school technology plans. For general information, call Marketing and Communications at 973-4515.
Computers and accessories:
1-10 items: Call the MIS Customer Service Help Desk at 973-4357 and ask for Matt McGuire or email to mmcguire@usd259.net.
More than 10 items: Call Marketing and Communications at 973-4515.
Minimum Standards, (reviewed quarterly by the District Hardware Standards Committee) are:
- IBM Compatible: Intel Pentium-III PCs with a minimum specifications of 1GHz, 256 MB of RAM, and 20GB hard drive that will support the Windows XP Pro operating system

- Apple: Power Macintosh and iMac computers with minimum specifications of Macinosh OS 9 and OS X. Compatible hardware accessories (no software)

- Color monitors: 17" in working condition, without burn-in.

Screening and acceptance
District staff will inspect items in order to comply with school district, state and federal guidelines. Please do not leave an item at a district building unless it has been inspected and accepted.
Donation receipts
All donations become the property of the Wichita Public Schools, a non-profit public school district located in Sedgwick County, Kansas. You will receive an IRS receipt at the time of your donation. The receipt is intended to facilitate compliance with Internal Revenue Code Section 170(f)(8), “Substantiation Requirement for Certain Contributions.” Although the district will provide a brief description of item donated, it is the responsibility of the donor to assess the value of the donation for IRS purposes.
