Who is involved in the work to update the Facility Master Plan?
More than 1,000 community, business, agency, church, neighborhood, parent and staff members are expected to be involved in numerous levels of this work:
· Facility Master Plan Steering Committee: Oversight group that gathered feedback from schools and planning teams, evaluate current needs and assist the Wichita BOE in prioritizing critical facility needs.
· Planning Teams: Organized by comprehensive high school feeder patterns, these planning teams review feedback from each building evaluation team and prioritize critical facility needs for their feeder pattern.
· Building Evaluation Teams: Every school in the district has a building evaluation team, charged with reviewing their own school facility, examining critical needs within their building, and prioritizing those needs prior to submitting them to their planning team representative.
· Education Specification Teams: Seven “ed spec” teams have been formed to review and evaluate specific key issues and need areas. These teams will make recommendations concerning district-wide needs. The recommendation will shape the building evaluation team reports, and will be strongly considered as the steering team prioritizes needs. The seven ed spec teams focus on: athletics, fine arts, class size reduction, existing facilities, community growth, transportation and ESOL/special education/early childhood.
