To ensure fiscal responsibility and completion of the bond projects, the Board of Education voted to establish a 2008 Bond Issue Oversight Committee in preparation for the approval of the 2008 bond issue. The 26-member Oversight Committee will monitor the status of all projects, review expenditures and financial commitments associated with the projects and review the sale of all general obligation bonds.

The members will be appointed by the Board of Education, United Teachers of Wichita, Service Employees Union, one from each Master Plan Feeder Pattern Planning Team and one from the Busing Oversight Committee.

In 2000, the Board of Education established a community oversight committee. Because of the success of that committee, the BOE was asked by district officials to establish a similar committee.
