Bond Issue Phasing Plan
The Wichita Public Schools has selected the phasing plan for school bond issue projects. Soon construction work will begin at the schools named in Phase 1. The 2000 bond issue was divided into three phases and each phase was divided into sub-phases. The 2008 bond issue is divided into two phases. Phase 1 has been sub-divided into Phase 1A, Phase 1B and Phase 1C. Construction on the first school project - Seltzer Elementary's expansion - was approved by the BOE on Oct. 12, 2009, with the selection of Caro Construction as the contractor.

The projects in Phase 1 were selected based on school and district needs, to provide a balance between small and large projects, and to spread bond projects throughout the community. This is the most efficient and cost-effective way to implement the bond plan. The district's goal is to have all Phase 1 projects under design by the end of the calendar year.
The Phase 2 plan will be divided into sub-phases later in the bond issue implementation.
The overall bond issue plan is anticipated to be completed in 5-7 years.
Exterior athletic improvements (tracks, tennis courts, all-weather turf) and auditorium upgrades (rigging, lighting, sound, seating) are not included in the phasing plans. They will be completed under separate contracts and schedules. Exterior athletic improvements phasing plan (updated July 23, 2009) Fine Arts improvements phasing plan
