The Wichita Public Schools has selected the phasing plan for the school bond issue projects.  NEW!! The remaining school bond issue projects have been divided into Phases 2, 3 and 4. Phase 2 has been sub-divided into Phase 2A, Phase 2B and Phase 2C. Phases 3 and 4 have not been sub-divided. The goal is to have all Phase 2 projects under design by the end of 2010.

The projects were selected based on school and district needs, to provide a balance between small and large projects, and to spread bond projects throughout the community.  This is the most efficient and cost-effective way to implement the bond plan. 

Construction on some schools in Phase 1 is already underway and all but two Phase 1 schools are under design. The Status Report (above) is regularly updated, listing architects, estimated bid dates and construction timelines. 

The overall bond issue plan is anticipated to be completed in 5-7 years.

Exterior athletic improvements (tracks, tennis courts, all-weather turf) and auditorium upgrades (rigging, lighting, sound, seating) are not included in the phasing plans. They will be completed under separate contracts and schedules.
