The Question Before Wichita Voters
The Wichita Board of Education approved a resolution authorizing a bond election. The question for the $350 million bond issue will read on the ballot:
Shall the following be adopted?
Shall Unified School District No. 259, Sedgwick County, Kansas (Wichita) (the “District”), issue general obligation bonds in an amount not to exceed $350,000,000, to pay the costs of the following within the District: (i) constructing, furnishing and equipping new schools; (ii) upgrading, repairing, replacing, constructing and equipping physical education, athletic, fine arts and special program facilities at schools; (iii) improving safety and security of schools; (iv) remodeling, renovating, improving, equipping, constructing additions to, demolishing and rebuilding schools; (v) acquiring and improving sites; (vi) making all other necessary improvements appurtenant thereto; and (vii) paying fees, costs and expenses incidental thereto; all pursuant to the provisions of K.S.A. 10-101 et seq.; K.S.A. 25-2018(f); K.S.A. 72-6761; and K.S.A. 75-2315 et seq.?
