Budget Fact Sheets
Information regarding the Wichita Public Schools' budget process. The dates reflect the BOE meeting that the information was distributed.
August 10 , 2009
The Board of Education approved the 2009-2010 budget, with a total budget of $621 million. $251 million of the budget is the General Fund and Supplemental General Fund (Local Option Budget), which are the only flexible components of the district's budget.

The Board of Education adopted a resolution to publish the proposed 2009-10 budget, which sets the budget amount.

June 22, 2009
During the Board of Education's business meeting, the Board was presented a revised potential reductions list to analyze. The Board approved the reduction list as it was presented, but there was an understanding that they may add additional items if staff finds other places to cut with minimal impact to the classroom.

During the Board of Education's regular meeting, additional information was provided to the Board after questions were raised during the previous meeting. District staff provided information on the following topics:

The Board of Education held a Board's Night Out meeting on May 18 at Washington Elementary to gather community feedback and suggestions about the budget. The BOE requested additional information on the following topics:

The Board also received its first look at potential cuts the district is facing.
