                                31-Day Rule for Benefits Enrollment:
Employees who experience a Life Event (marriage, birth, or adoption) have 31 days from the event date to add the new dependent to the health plan. If the dependent is not added within the 31-day period the employee must wait until Annual Open Enrollment to add new dependents. The 31-day period also applies to removing a divorced spouse as a dependent.


                                        MH NET

Our Mental Health Network is changing as of June 1, 2008 to MH Net. If you are currently receiving treatment from a participating mental health provider, your treatment will be grandfathered until you complete the recommended treatment regardless of their contracting status with MH Net. The attached links are a letter regarding changes to the mental health network, and a FAQ sheet.

                                        Health Insurance
The Wichita Public Schools group health insurance plan is a self-funded plan including health, dental and pharmacy coverage for all eligible employees, retirees and their qualified dependents. The district hires a third party administrator to pay claims and manage the networks.

Coventry Health Care is our administrator for health, pharmacy and vision claims.
Delta Dental of Kansas is our administrator for dental care.
United Behavioral Health is the plan administrator for our mental health program. Preapproval is required for all mental health care visits.

Full-time Student Verification requirements:
If your dependent is between ages 19-23, and is a full-time student, they can stay on your health insurance with proof of their student status. Coventry will be sending a letter requesting verification of student status to all affected health plan members. Verification of student status is required to keep the dependent on the health plan.

CAREMARK Mail Pharmacy Program

CAREMARK is the mailorder pharmacy used by the Coventry Health Care system. Coverage with CAREMARK began 9/1/2007.

Health plan members enrolling in the mailorder pharmacy program will be required to get new prescriptions to send with your application. If you have questions regarding this program contact the Coventry Customer Service line at 1-866-765-7841.

Primary Care Physicians (PCP): This generally includes physicians who practice in the specialties of Family Practice, Internal Medicine, General Practice, or Pediatrics.  If you are not sure if a physician is a PCP, please contact Coventry Customer Service at the toll-free number on the back of your health card.

United Behavioral Health is the plan administrator for our mental health program. If you have questions about this plan you may contact them at 1-866-607-5970.

Life Insurance:
The district has group term life insurance that covers all eligible employees and retirees. Employee groups are covered at these levels:
    Certified Teachers:    $30,000
    Classified A-Ji:         $30,000
    Classified K-Z:          $40,000
    Administrators:         $50,000

All eligible employees should review your district Life Insurance beneficiaries online through the eBenefits program. Changes to beneficiaries, or changes to the allocation of life insurance among beneficiaries, can be made through eBenefits at any time.

Updates to your KPERS Life Insurance beneficiaries must be made by submitting a new form to KPERS. Find their form at this website:  KPERS Beneficiary Form. This form must be completed, signed and witnessed, and mailed or faxed to KPERS for the changes to be posted.
