Wichita Public Schools offers a comprehensive Benefits program for employee's and their eligible dependents, and for employees who work a minimum of 20 hours or more per week in both Classified and Certified positions.. Medical Insurance - plan provider is COVENTRY (1-866-765-7841 dedicated line for all USD 259 medical plan members, employees, retirees and dependents)
– Comprehensive medical benefit including sickness and accident care, hospital care and dental care for employees and eligible dependents enrolled in the Plan. Eligible dependents include: spouse, children under 19, children under 23 if full-time student in an accredited college. Plan pays allowable charges subject to deductible and coinsurance. You may be required to pay additional charges if a non-participating physician or hospital provides service.
Benefit plan year is from September 1 through August 31.
Dental Insurance – Plan provider is Delta Dental of Kansas. Coverage subject to Plan deductible: $50 per person, $150 per family. Dental has a $1,500 limit per employee and $1,500 per eligible dependent(s) per benefit year.
Prescription Drug Card – Co-payment for generic drugs is $10 genric, $30 formulary, $55 non-formulary. Self administered injectibles have a co-pay of 10% up to a maximum of $100 per prescription.

Kansas Public Employees Retirement System – All public employees are members of the Kansas Public Retirement System (KPERS). The state retirement system provides retirement benefits, disability benefits and life insurance. Additional information about KPERS may be found at http://www.kpers.org. Membership is mandatory for all employees working 630 hours per year in a non-seasonal, non-temporary position. All of KPERS forms, including beneficiary change forms, can be printed from the KPERS website.
Flexible Spending Accounts – Employees may payroll deduct up to $5,000 per year on a pre-tax basis for un-reimbursable medical expenses such a deductible, coinsurance, co-pays, glasses, contacts and braces. You cannot use this money for cosmetic procedures.
Dependents Care Reimburse Account – Employees may payroll deduct up to $5,000 per year on a pre-tax basis to reimburse dependent care expenses. This includes childcare, eldercare, babysitting for children up to age 12.
BOE Group Life Insurance – Premium is “fully Paid” by the District. Administrators, $50,000; K-Z Employees, $40,000; A-J Employees $30,000; Teachers, $30,000.
Supplemental Group Term Life Insurance - As an employee receiving employment benefits from the School district, you also have a opportunity to purchase additional amounts of group term life insurance that you pay for through payroll deduction. The life insurance benefit provided b this plan is an amount equal to your annual salary rounded to the next higher $1,000.
